Psalm 145:8

Psalm 145:8

The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.

This week’s devotions have been focused very much on the repentance and working through our sin. David had gone through one of the hardest moments in all of his life due to the sins that he committed. But through it all one constant remained for David, God’s love and compassion for him.

In Psalm 145, another psalm written by David, the king pens these famous words, “The lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.” When we sow the seeds of discord and sin in our lives, we get to live through the whirlwind that it creates. We have to ride it out, there are simply no other options. So, what sustains us through the storms of life and sin? We make it through by the grace of God and His compassion. Even in the midst of the storms, the Lord reminds us that He remains gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in love.

If you’re living through the storms right now, take heart and hold on to these words. Even though you have to ride the storm out, the Lord is with you!
