Day 12

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18

Think back to the woman who reached out her hand to touch Jesus and be healed. What fears do you think she was carrying with her? Fear of rejection and rebuke? Surely an unclean woman touching a Rabbi would come with some kind of reprove. Fear of mockery or further becoming an outcast? Imagine how she felt when Jesus called her out to find her! With all that fear looming over her, what was the response of Jesus?

Perfect love drives out fear. Our savior loves you perfectly. The fears and anxieties we carry fight to have hold on our hearts and minds. Meanwhile the perfect love of Jesus is working to drive it out. If we cling to our fears, we are fighting against Jesus. But if we let go, those fears can be driven out and replaced with His perfect love for you. What are you holding on to that might be fighting the love of Jesus in your life?
