MADE FOR THIS SERMON SERIES

The Ten Commandments are often heard as a list of rules. But God did not give His Law simply to produce better behavior. He gave His Law to reveal His heart, expose our condition, preserve His good creation, protect our neighbor, and show us what life with Him was always meant to be. We were made for this. Made for life with Him. Made for worship. Made for rest. Made for community. Made for mercy, purity, generosity, truth, and contentment.

And yet, when we hear the commandments honestly, we also discover how deeply sin bends us away from God’s design. We misuse His name. We resist rest. We dishonor authority. We harm our neighbor. We grasp, compare, resent, and covet.

The Law tells the truth about us. But it does not leave us alone in that truth.

In Jesus, we see the only One who fully lived what we were made for. He loved the Father with all His heart, soul, mind, and strength. He loved His neighbor all the way to the cross. He fulfilled the Law for us, bore the curse of the Law for us, and now forms us by His Spirit to live as children of God.

This series invites us to receive the commandments not as a ladder to climb toward God, but as a gift that reveals His good design, drives us to repentance, points us to Christ, and shapes us for faithful life in Him.
